Complex Finances. One Coordinated Tax Picture.

TaxWizardUSA now offers dedicated tax preparation and planning for high-net-worth individuals and families

At some point a tax return stops being a form and becomes an assembly problem. A salary is simple on its own β€” so are a rental property, a brokerage account, and a partnership K-1. Together, they interact: one figure changes three others, and a return assembled in pieces β€” by different hands β€” is where those interactions get missed.

Many high-net-worth families are there now. Business owners with pass-through income, investors with significant portfolio activity, owners of rental portfolios, and families filing in more than one state are the households this section serves. It is why TaxWizardUSA has opened a dedicated section for complex personal finances: preparation and planning built for returns that do not fit a simple form, handled by one office, year-round.

The K-1 arrives last

Partnership and S corporation returns finish late, and their K-1s land weeks after everything else β€” often after the rest of your documents are ready. A personal return cannot be completed accurately until the expected K-1s are in. Filing without them can mean an extension or an amended return β€” and an extension extends the time to file, not the time to pay.

Coordination is the answer. When the same office prepares your partnership and S corporation returns (Forms 1065 and 1120-S) β€” and your Form 1120 where you have a C corporation β€” the K-1 figures reported on your personal return tie directly to the returns that produced them, and a corrected K-1 is picked up and reflected in your filing, reducing the mismatch notices that follow when figures disagree.

Estimated payments based on last year can still miss

Payments calculated from last year's return can satisfy a safe harbor and still leave a balance due. In a year when income jumps β€” a sale, a distribution, a strong business year β€” they can leave a shortfall against the required installments β€” and it is that shortfall, not the balance itself, that underpayment penalties attach to. (A payment series that meets the applicable safe harbor generally avoids the federal underpayment penalty even when a balance remains due.)

Calculating them from your actual income as the year develops β€” business results, investment sales, and rental activity included β€” means the April balance is estimated in advance rather than discovered at filing, and underpayment exposure is reduced as the year's facts develop.

More states, more moving parts

A rental in one state, a business interest in another, a move in between: each state wants its return, and the credits between them have to be claimed correctly so the same income is not taxed by two states where the law provides relief. Investment income adds its own layer: capital gains, dividend income, and β€” where the income thresholds are met β€” the net investment income tax turn routine portfolio activity into return complexity, with estimated-payment consequences during the year, not just at filing. A rental portfolio kept in separate spreadsheets β€” or in memory β€” turns Schedule E into a reconstruction project every spring.

What the service includes

  • Complex Form 1040 preparation β€” the personal return prepared in full: Schedule C for business activity, Schedule D for capital gains and losses, Schedule E for rentals and pass-through income, and Schedule SE for self-employment tax, as each applies β€” with every Schedule K-1 from your partnerships and S corporations reported and reconciled to the returns that issued them, applying the basis, at-risk, and passive-activity limitations that govern each item.
  • Quarterly estimated-tax planning β€” estimated payments calculated from your actual income as the year develops.
  • Bookkeeping for investment and rental activity β€” ongoing bookkeeping of your rental income and expenses and your investment transaction records, kept for tax reporting, so the records behind Schedule E and Schedule D are current all year β€” not reconstructed at filing time. This is recordkeeping for tax preparation β€” not investment advice or portfolio management.
  • Multi-state return preparation β€” income sourced in more than one state, prepared with the nonresident and part-year returns your situation requires under each state's rules, and the credits for taxes paid to other states claimed correctly.
  • IRS notice response and resolution support β€” if the IRS or a state sends a notice, we review it with you, prepare the response, and support the resolution β€” corrections prepared and installment-agreement requests supported through the one office that already knows your full picture.
  • Year-round tax planning consultations β€” planning conversations before decisions are final β€” a property sale, a business distribution, a significant investment move β€” so the tax cost is known in advance. We coordinate with your own attorney and financial advisor; legal and investment decisions remain theirs and yours.

How it works

It begins with a consultation: call (954) 352-3927 or request one through the page. We discuss your income sources, entities, and states β€” and quote your fees privately, in writing, before any work begins. We then assemble the full picture: business returns, K-1s, investment and rental records, and prior-year returns in one file, prepared by one office. From there, the work is year-round: your returns prepared for accurate, timely filing, estimated payments calculated and scheduled through the year, and planning conversations before major decisions β€” not after.

Your finances are complex. Your tax preparation should match. The High Net Worth Individuals section is at https://taxwizardsusa.com/high-net-worth.html β€” start with a consultation: (954) 352-3927. Fees are quoted privately, in writing, based on the complexity of your returns, and requesting a consultation does not obligate you to engage us.
